Natural Gas and Power Systems Combined Modelling & Co-optimisation in PLEXOS Makes its Presence in the Gas to Power Journal

Gas-to-Power Journal, a weekly magazine for the gas and power industry, provides analysis and insight on the downstream section of the gas-value-chain, focussing on gas-fired power generation. Targeting leading energy companies, utilities, power plant operators, oil and gas companies, consultants and Governmental bodies the Journal covers technical innovations for gas-fired power plants and tracks commercial project development Trading and pricing trends on electricity and gas markets are highlighted.

From January to April 2014, the Gas to Power Journal both online and magazine versions will feature and advertise how the incorporation of the fully integrated Gas Modelling Classes in the PLEXOS® Integrated Energy Model, complex layouts and mixed gas and electricity system topologies, of a large scale, can be modelled. The Gas Model provides the capability to model the costs and constraints of gas delivery from its source fields via a network of pipelines, through storages and on to meet demands including those in the electric model.

With the design of a journal advert, leader board banner and skyscraper banner, the gas/power market will potentially gain insights into the unique offerings of the PLEXOS Gas Modelling application including; Combined and Integrated Simulation Models, Fundamental Power and Gas Revenues, Risk Analysis through Scenarios and Multistage Stochastic Optimisation Gas and Power Systems Capacity Planning and Evaluation of Gas and Power Contingencies.

IEEE Spectrum Sponsors and Publishes the Energy Exemplar® Whitepaper on PLEXOS® Integrated Energy Modelling Around the Globe

Energy Exemplar is proud to announce the sponsorship and new online publication by IEEE Spectrum of their latest white paper titled ‘’PLEXOS® Integrated Energy Modelling around the Globe’ which will be advertised live on the IEEE Spectrum website from the 1st January to the 31st March 2014.

Authored by Dr Christos Papadopoulos, Dr Randell Johnson and Mr Felipe Valdebenito, the paper discusses PLEXOS® Integrated Energy Model as an advanced software tool that employs the latest mathematical programming methods providing specific answers needed to some of the most challenging questions that the Global Energy Markets are facing today. It can provide significant insights on new Power & Gas Markets’ Policies implementation, while at the same time, with its state of the art Stochastic Modelling & Optimisation abilities, it can effectively manage and cope with the associated uncertainties. This paper presents an overview of these Global Energy Markets challenges, as well as the associated real world applications and capacities of PLEXOS.

IEEE Spectrum is the flagship magazine and website of the IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization devoted to engineering and the applied sciences. Their charter is to keep over 400,000 members informed about major trends and developments in technology, engineering, and science. IEEE blogs, podcasts, news and features stories, videos and interactive infographics engage visitors with clear explanations about emerging concepts and developments with details they can’t get elsewhere.
