Energy Exemplar and NREL present the ERGIS dataset

Energy Exemplar is pleased to announce that, in cooperation with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, CO, we are able to provide the PLEXOS dataset used in the Eastern Renewable Generation Integration Study (ERGIS) as conducted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This study was completed using PLEXOS together with NREL’s high performance computing (HPC) cluster, and it is one of the largest studies of its kind performed to date.

The ERGIS dataset includes a nodal representation of the entire Eastern Interconnection of North America as well as a number of scenarios designed to demonstrate how this system might be impacted by high penetrations (30% of total annual generation) of wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) during steady state operations.

Those interested in obtaining a copy of the dataset will register and complete a screening process conducted by Energy Exemplar in order to gain access to the ERGIS dataset.
